Yoga Alice takes a simple idea about love and time and turns it into Everybody Wants Forever. The title alone points to something most people understand: wanting the good part of life to last a little longer.
“Everybody Wants Forever” sounds like the wish people make when something feels right. Nobody wants a good relationship, a happy moment or a peaceful period to suddenly end. The difficult part is that life does not work that way. We enjoy things while they are here, knowing somewhere in the back of our minds that nothing stays the same.
The track is listed online at around three and a half minutes, placing it in the concise pop song territory. What stands out from the title is how direct the central thought is. There is no complicated phrase to decode. “Forever” is the word doing the heavy lifting, because it immediately brings up relationships, promises, and that familiar desire to hold on when you know time is moving.
There is also something slightly bittersweet about the idea. Wanting forever usually means you are enjoying something now, but you are already thinking about losing it. That is a very human contradiction. You can be completely present in a moment and still wish you could freeze it.
This track works because its central idea does not need much explanation. Most people have had at least one moment they wished could last longer. Sometimes a song only needs to put that feeling into words for you to recognise yourself in it.
