Duncan Laurence, the Dutch pop singer and songwriter behind “Arcade”, moves into a newer electronic direction with New To You, a song built around the excitement of discovering fresh feelings with someone.
New To You captures that early stage of attraction when a person starts seeing someone differently, and suddenly ordinary things feel unfamiliar in a good way. It can describe the excitement of a new relationship, the discovery of a side of someone you have known for years, or simply the feeling of realising that love has changed how you see a person. Laurence has described the upcoming music around this period as a move into electronic dance music, marking a shift from the more acoustic and piano-led sound associated with his earlier work.
