Masicka – Pointless

Masicka Pointless

Masicka takes a blunt look at wasted effort with Pointless, a title that fits those situations where continuing to argue, explain yourself or repeat the same mistake no longer feels worth the energy.

Pointless is a word people usually reach for after they have tried enough times. You can keep calling someone who will not answer, keep explaining yourself to someone who has already made up their mind or keep chasing a result that is clearly not coming. At some point, walking away can make more sense than forcing it.

Masicka keeps the vocal firmly at the centre, using a dancehall rhythm that gives his delivery room to move. The beat has enough weight to maintain momentum, while the instrumental stays relatively open around the voice. His phrasing shifts between direct lines and melodic touches, giving the record some variation without taking it away from its central mood. The arrangement works because it does not try to make the subject more complicated than it needs to be.

There is a difference between giving up and recognising that your effort is being wasted. Sometimes the mature decision is knowing when another conversation will change nothing, when another chance will only repeat the same outcome, or when your energy belongs somewhere else. That is where the title feels most real, because everybody eventually reaches a situation where enough is enough.
